MISSION STATEMENT
To provide a safe environment where children of divorce are introduced into the loving arms of a church family as well as to feel God’s love in a group setting enabling children to grieve and heal in a biblically based Christ-centered environment which utilizes the established DivorceCare For Kids national curriculum and program. |
PROGRAM INFO
DC4K or DivorceCare for Kids is for ages 5-12 years. It is an effective tool that will help prevent long-term reliance on drugs, alcohol, and destructive behaviors. It assists children of divorce in developing healthy lifestyles. It gives children a chance to break the cycle of divorce and become involved in committed marriages as adults. The trauma of divorce can be countered with positive life changes.
Sadly, children who experience the divorce of their parents often suffer alone in their grief period. They have no access to support systems to help them understand what is happening. Divorce is the death of the only family they have known, and children need time to grieve the loss of their once intact family.
This program is a catalyst for long-term change in the overall social and economic welfare of children throughout the world. It crosses over denominational lines and economic barriers to assist children in developing solutions that will positively affect their futures. It empowers children of divorce to overcome negative barriers and to successfully enter adulthood in a healthy way.
Each session focuses on a kids perspective of the same topic the adults are covering that week. Healing begins with music, DVD dramas, biblical stories, games, and group interaction.
